Our columnist talks about shaping a more nurturing society for the future
As women, we are traditionally the caretakers of our culture. Our responsibility is to understand and somehow make sure that the changes that are happening in our world preserve the basic humanity in us all. By connecting with the principles of the sacred feminine, such as those found in ancient matriarchal civilisations, a more nurturing society can evolve – one that abhors violence, advocates values such as justice, compassion and love, and raises its children to reach their full potential as human beings.”
I wrote these words 15 years ago in my book Grow: The Modern Woman’s Handbook (£2.98; amazon.co.uk ). I predicted a time would come for women to take a leadership role in society, coming from the grassroots to co-create a new collaborative way of working and living.
Now, when the world is crying out for a more spiritually-based, compassionate and loving way of being, it’s as if everything I have worked for over so many years has taken me to this time of dramatic change in the world, a change which no-one could have foreseen, during which my experience and knowledge can support others to live and work in a more holistic, caring way.
As a spokesperson for this change, as well as an entrepreneur, I have created a number of exciting, new on and offline activities, which are dedicated to the SEED community of like-minded women.
I will be launching the new women’s SEED Hub Club on September 26th, as a celebration, featuring top female experts from the world of wellbeing, sustainable business and personal growth. It will take place in Somerset, where I run the SEED Wellbeing Hub and Eco-Store, as well as online at SEEDNetwork.com.
We will then continue to host a series of workshops and talks, on and offline, during the coming months for our members,. Plus, we’ll be featuring their stories and my series of ‘Lynne Franks in Conversation with Extraordinary Women’ on our new online channel SEED TV.
And change is happening, too, at Natural Health. It has given me much joy and delight to be a columnist here for the last six or seven years. Yet all good things do come to an end and in this time of transition to a new way of working and living, it is a time for new beginnings, both for myself and the magazine.
I wish the team here at Natural Health magazine my very best wishes in continuing to make the magazine the leader in this very important industry, which I care about so deeply.
