According to the National Eczema Society, one in five children and one in 12 adults suffer from eczema in the UK. Eczema is caused when the skin doesn’t produce as much fats and oils, leaving it less able to retain water. The protective barrier of the skin can then dry out, break and become inflamed. Everyday products such as bubble bath and soap can contribute to the irritation and for severe sufferers, this can lead to blisters and weeping areas.
It’s easy to understand why eczema can get your down but thankfully there are a range of products, ingredients and natural remedies available to help ease symptoms. Here, we’ve compiled our favourite natural healers.
1 Load up on essential fatty acids

2 Look after your scalp
Eczema can strike all over the body, including your scalp. Causing inflamed, itchy and dry skin, many hair products can lead to further irritation. 3 Try anti-inflammatory oils

6 Go with jojoba

7 Use emolients all-year-round
It’s key to look after your skin everyday, not just when eczema rears it’s ugly head. Emolients are great for eczema-prone skin. They help prevent water loss and provide a protective barrier. For all-other body soothing, try the Diprobase range available at Boots, Lloyds Pharmacy and Superdrug.
